Valentines Day With Frost

Frost curled up, grateful for her sister's warmth. Cupcake, is Frost's older sister (Cupcake looks like Gemini except she has green eyes instead of blue). Frost lifted her head as she heard her owner talking to his metal mousie toy that he holds to his ear. She walked over to her, then Frost looked up at her and meowed. Her human looked down at her and continued talking to his metal mouse. But, Frost wanted his attention, and she was going to get it. Frost jumped up onto the counter and put her face near her ear. Then, she meowed loudly. Her owner jumped in surprise. Once she recovered, Frost's human plopped Frost off of the counter.

Frost wasn't going to give up so easily. She leapt onto the counter once again and walked up to her owner, who was still talking to his mouse toy, maybe trying to console it after what happened. Frost lifted her paw and unsheathed her claws, a mischievous glint in her blue eyes. Then, she smacked her paw on her owner's furless paw that was holding the mouse toy. The human screamed and dropped the toy.

Frost heard metal mouse toy then say, "Call ended."

Frost thought, I wonder what the mouse said. I think that it was speaking in the human tongue. Then Frost shrugged. It doesn't matter. I must finish it off quickly, before my human gets it!

Frost leapt off of the counter and hit the metal mouse toy, hard, repeatedly. Her paw hurt more and more with every smack. She hissed and gave up. Then, Frost remembered her first goal, as she walked past her owner. She butted her head against her owner's chin, Frost's front paws on her knees. Her owner sighed and lifted her off of her legs. Then, Frost's owner walked over to the door as the doorbell rang. When the door opened, a tall, lanky man with a bunch of roses and a red, heart-shaped box was revealed. Frost saw her owner smile and talk in her strange language. Her owner opened the heart-shaped box and lifted a small brown thing from the box. Frost watched as her owner popped the thing in her mouth. Then, Frost's human grabbed the roses and happily hugged the bunch to her chest. Her owner then set the roses down on the counter and walked out of the house. Frost watched the door slam shut behind her human. Frost leaned down and sniffed at the heart-shaped box, realizing that the small brown lumps that it contained were chocolates.

Uninteresting. Frost thought.

Then, Frost turned toward the roses. She reached up and grabbed a lovely rose with delicate crimson petals. She lifted the rose by its fragile green stem. Then, she walked into her owner's bedroom. She leapt up onto the bed and plopped the rose down on the blankets and lied down, the rose held tightly between her paws. Then, she purred. This was the best Valentines Day ever.

New Year's Eve With Dust

Dust emerged from behind the living room couch where he had been playing with a orange rubber ball. He walked into the kitchen for a quick bite to eat. His owner was making some punch in a large bowl.

What's she doing?
He thought.

Then, Dust realized that his human was talking to someone on the thingy called a phone. What is going on? Dust needed to know.

Dust padded away, heading for his food dish. Whatever his owner was doing, it was sure to be
something he did not approve of.

*******

Dust heard the sound of a door shutting. He rushed over ton the hall to see the human that had come. The second he saw that it wasn't just any old human and that it was a hole human family, he knew that something was up. Then, the doorbell rang.

Well this is odd...
Dust thought.

Three more families and two humans pored into the now loud room.

Dust knew what was happening.

Not another holiday! They already stuffed themselves silly at Thanksgiving, why did they need to do it again?

But, maybe they weren't all that bad. I mean, they couldn't all be bad...some of them had to be kind. So, at that, Dust rubbed up against a male human that was talking with a much larger male. Dust arched his back with joy as he waited for gentle fingers to scratch his chin and pet his flank.

But none came.

Who cares! I don't need any human to pamper me! he thought. Although, inside he felt sad and unloved.

Thinking that maybe there where some nice, cat-loving, book-reading humans, he meowed loudly to make himself the center of attention. The bustling group stopped talking and stared at him for a moment. One, a brown-haired human, walked up to him and cuddled him. He purred happily and butted his head against her chin. She set him down on a couch. Dust called sadly after her, but she was out of earshot. He sighed. He wished that the joyful moment he had spent with her had never ended.

*******

Later that day, all of the humans left. Dust said a final good-bye to the kind female human that had comforted him.

"Bye, Dust," she said.

Then, when she'd left, the house was silent. Dust ate a few scraps of forgotten food then he walked away, uninterested in anything but sleep.

After climbing the flight of stairs, Dust curled up on his owner's bed and slept. He dreamed that he was back in the brown-haired female's arms.

When he awoke, he knew that today was a new day. A new time. A new life. A new year.

Thanksgiving With Pumpkin

One day, Pumpkin the kitten walked into the kitchen. Pumpkin's owner was busy making food. "I wonder what she is going to do with all of this food." she thought, as she jumped on to the counter. There where pies and tarts dumplings and cranberry sauce sprawled all over the counter. Pumpkin almost knocked over a huge bowl of mashed potatoes. Her owner picked her up and set her on the floor.

Pumpkin sighed. Now, she sprang onto the dining room table. There where colorful pumpkins from red to orange to yellow. Round, white plates were at the place of every chair. A brown, wicker horn sat in the center of the table. The horn was filled with wax fruit, including apples and pears. Golden paper leaf cut-outs where laid down on every plate.

Pumpkin leaped down from the table, dizzy with excitement. Just then, the doorbell rang. Pumpkin's owner quickly ran to the door and opened it. Three people greeted her; in their hands they held even MORE food. Then the humans all sat down to eat.

********

Later that day, the other people left and Pumpkin's owner walked up to her and gave her a dish full of Pumpkin's favorite food.

"Happy Thanksgiving, Pumpkin!" she said.

Pumpkin happily ate the food. Then she curled up in her little cat bed.

"Happy Thanksgiving," Pumpkin meowed.
