Introduction

The Purple Paw is a blog that is all about cats. Cat poems, limericks, articles and stories fill this blog. In this page, I (KittyLover8) will tell you some ways to navigate through our blog and some things that might help you, like how to comment. So, if you are crazy about cats, then read on.

The Sidebar

On the sidebar of our blog we post many things. Usually, we have at least one pole on the sidebar. The pole might be titled: What Is Your Favorite Series On Our Blog? You can vote on the pole by selecting the answer that has, in this case, you favorite series on The Purple Paw. Then, click on the button that says: Vote. If you don't like your answer or if you want to select another answer, then you can always click on the underlined words that read: Change your vote.

Underneath the pole or poles is a gadget titled: Followers. This is where you can view our blog's followers or become a follower yourself! To follow our blog, click on the blue button that says: Join this site. You have to already have a Google, AIM, twitter, OpenID, Netlog or Yahhoo account.

Below "Followers" is an article titled: Cat Facts. There are six facts on this gadget. I did research to make sure that I was giving readers the correct information.

Blog Archive is next in line! This gadget displays The Purple Paw's posts. It also says how many posts we've done in a month or year (example: January (26), 2011 (41), ext.). You can click on any post, month or year and you will be able to browse the post, year or month that you clicked on.

Meet Shadow and Pumpkin! Shadow is the coal-black cat with a white splash on her chest just below her collar and white paws. Her eyes are the color of heated emeralds. Put your mouse pointer on her chest and she will purr. Put your cursor on her ear and Shadow will meow. She will intently watch you mouse pointer and bat at it all the while!

Pumpkin is the playful kitten with fur the gentle orange color of the sunset. Click on her basket and she'll jump out. When she's out, click on her and she will jump back in. You can put you cursor over the words "more" that have a gray background and you will see a red ball attached to a string and a can of wet food. Click on the red ball toy. Pumpkin will play with the the ball at the end of the string. When you are done, put the mouse pointer over "more" and click on the blank spot where the toy used to be. Also, you can click on the can of wet food and set it down on the at level with the bottom of the basket. Click on the can again and the it will open. Pumpkin will eat the wet food.

Below the virtual cats are some drawings I did. I title the pictures with the names of the cats (example: Indigo Flame, Storm, ext.). I hope you like them!

Underneath the pictures is a gadget titled: Labels. All of the labels on our blog are displayed here. Click on a label such as "Cats" and you will see all of the posts labeled Cats.

Another gadget is called: Popular Posts. Here you will be able to see the top ten most popular posts. Just like how you can click on "Blog Archive" and "Labels", you can click on a link and you will see that post. At the time (2/19/12), "Meet Ice" is the most popular post.

Below "Popular Posts" are pictures of cats. We have titled all of these images with short lines (example: Exploring The World). I hope the readers enjoy viewing all of the things that we put on our sidebar and blog.

Commenting

If you have a question about our blog, cats or anything else, then comment below any of our posts. We will be happy to answer. We encourage viewers to comment.

Some people might not know how to comment. If you are at the home page, then look below the post that you want to comment on. You will see a number of things including, Posted by Three Sisters at 2:49 PM and then, finally, you will see something that read something like, 0 comments. Click on the words 0 comments and you will see the post's comment section. Type you comment into the Post a Comment box and click on the button that reads: Publish. Now you have commented!

Another way you can comment on a post is to click on a post that is listed on Blog Archive. You will be able to view and comment on the post that you clicked on.

Famous Pirates

Blackbeard, also Edward Teach:

Blackbeard is one of the most well-known pirates, and one of the most terrifying, at that. When he was about to pillage a ship, Blackbeard would light fuses in is large black beard to strike fear into the hearts of the crewmen abroad the fellow ship. He strapped pistols to himself as that he would be able to quickly kill. Many people that saw him thought that he was the devil!

Blackbeard was killed on November 22, 1718 in a fight with the Royal Navy of Britton. It took five gunshots and more then twenty sward cuts to kill him!

Calico Jack, also John Rackham:

Calico Jack was known by this name for the calico coats that he would ware. He has mostly been remembered by his work with two famous female pirates, Anne Bonny and Mary Read, and was only moderately successful in his life as a pirate.

Calico Jack was caught by the British Navy. It was much for the Navy easier then it normally would have normally been. Calico Jack's crew was drunk, so the fight was lost quickly. On November 16, 1720, Jack was sentenced to being hung. This was carried out the next day.

Mary Read:

Mary Read was a tomboy girl who dressed and acted like a man. She ran away at 13 to sail away abroad a ship. A few years later, she enlisted in the army. It was then that she fell in love with a fellow soldier. Mary Read was wedded to him, began to dress like women did, and opened a hotel with her husband. Later, when her husband died, she went back to sea. Calico Jack then captured her ship and she befriended him and Anne Bonny. She became a pirate along with her two friends.

Many Read was captured with Calico Jack and Anne Bonny by the British Navy. She and Anne escaped being hung due to their possibly feigned pregnancy. They were both imprisoned instead. Mary died, still in prison, not long after this from sickness.

Anne Bonny:

Anne Bonny was a courageous, independent and headstrong woman. Like Mary Read, Anne Bonny married a young soldier by the name of James Bonny. She was stolen from her husband by Calico Jack, resulting to her unlikely friendship with him. She, Mary Read and Calico Jack. Anne Bonny disguised herself as a man and joined Jack in a life of piracy.

Later, as described above, the three of them were captured, and she and Marry said that they were pregnant (which was possibly untrue), and their hanging was postponed and they were put in prison until they gave birth. Anne Bonny mysteriously disappeared and was never seen or heard from again.

Cat Facts

• Purebred cats normally have amber eyes.

• Cats can see well in just a sixth of the light humans need to see in.

• Cats always will blink when you touch their hyper-sensitive whiskers.

•Milk is not good for cats, most are allergic to it. Feeding milk to your cat can cause him or her to have diarrhea. Cats can have Soy milk, Almond milk, and Coconut milk without any allergic reactions.

• Unneutered male cats may be less affectionate and may spray household objects such as couches and chairs and may also develop cheek jowls and thick neck skin.

•The sound of bats fluttering their wings sounds like a drum roll to a cat's ears.
