Carnivorous Plants: Introduction

Introduction

Okay, so have you ever heard of plants that eat people? I can only hope that you didn’t believe those tall tales.

And no, this is not how I’m going to open.

First of all, this book is about carnivorous plants (read the title). Plants that do not, in fact, eat humans. They eat bugs, toads, frogs, birds, mice, and some even eat rats. Although you can name hundreds of animals that eat these same things, the fact that plants eat meat can be mind-boggling.

Some of the chapter titles in this book might be a bit confusing: pitchers, traps, tentacles, est. Well, these are just different ways the plants catch their prey. A pitcher plant would be in the chapter pitchers, a Venus flytrap or a waterwheel would be in the category traps, and a sundew would be in the section tentacles.

So, now that you have read a boring introduction about nothing, I hope that you enjoy my book.
