The Adventures Of Dew, Storm And Star 6#

Star watched her father and mother, Storm and Dew, murmurer to each other. Star's gaze quickly flickered from Dew and Storm to Jinx. She felt her eyes water as she saw Jinx meekly lift her head. Jinx had always been kind to Star, and she had been a good friend to every one.

Star knew that Jinx was very sick, even though Dew and Storm didn't tell her. She walked off. She had to share her sorrow with someone who would cheer her up, other then her grieving family. And that someone was sweet little Chip!

******

Soon, Star came to where Chip and his mother, Cocoa, lived. She pitied the pair. They lived in a ditch. The only reason that they would not move is because Cocoa wanted to live nearby where the humans lived. Cocoa liked humans. In the meantime, though, the ditch had no sheltered spot that was out of rain or snow. The ditch was very muddy at the moment because it had rained just yesterday.

"Chip! Chip! I want to talk to you!" Star called.

"Star? Is that you?" a voice asked from the distance.

"Y-yes. Is that you, Chip?" meowed Star.

"No," Star saw Cocoa emerge from a bunch of bushes, covered in human scent.

"Oh. It's you." Star couldn't help but sound disappointed.

"Hoping for someone different, eh?" said Cocoa with a hint of laughter in her voice.

"I'm so sorry Cocoa! I didn't mean to be rude! I-I just need to speak with Chip."

"He's hunting," Cocoa meowed.

"Thank you, Cocoa!" Star called.

Star sniffed around until she finally caught Chip's scent. Quickly, she walked in the direction of his scent trail. It was only a little while until she found him. He was burying a vole.

"Hi, Chip!" Star meowed happily.

Startled, Chip whipped around to face her, wide-eyed. "Wha!..Oh! Hi, Star."

Star told him what had happened in the past few weeks, and he was sympathetic. He cheered her up by telling her to look at the bright side of things.* She smiled at him, and the pair curled up together.
